Holy-ween 2009

Get signed up now to participate in this year’s Trunk-or-Treat event. Holy-ween is on a Saturday this year.

Your car must be in place and ready for the carnival by 5:30 p.m.

Remember:

Ø You must be in friendly costumes.

Ø You must bring candy to hand out to the kids. (contact me if that is a problem.)

Ø You must be in your assigned spot at or before 5:30 p.m.

Ø You must follow through with your commitment. If you said you would help then you need to show up.

You don’t have to have a car to participate. We will assign a parking space to you and you can decorate a lawn chair, wagon, toilet, etc.

YOU CANNOT JUST COME UP HERE AND HANG OUT THAT NIGHT. IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE HERE YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT.

Homeless Night

Saturday, October 10^th

8:00 p.m. Saturday night - after late church on Sunday.

Cost: $5.00

The Homeless Night is a program designed to help you understand the plight of the homeless. Most of us do not know what it is like to wonder where their next meal is coming from or where we will sleep at night. By spending a simulated homeless night we will experience some of the discomfort and hopelessness associated with being homeless.

How does this work?

We will gather at Immanuel and get ready to spend a night outside in the field by the playground. We will be restricted to girl's areas and boy's areas for sleeping. The first priority is to find some type of shelter, cardboard, newspaper, etc. After that, we will experience a meal that might be served in a shelter.

What happens Saturday night?

After dinner and house building we will do the usual lock-in type stuff. Bible study, worship, free-time, games, etc.

What happens Sunday morning?

After we wake up, we will have a simple breakfast and then attend Sunday school and church. No showers, no change of clothing. This will help all of us learn what it

Patio Night

We’ll fire up the bar-b to make smores and just hang out with friends. This will be a great opportunity to get to know each other better. Bring a friend and have some fun.

Cost: No cost

Nothing says fun like lighting something on fire. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. Dress for the weather and get ready to have some fun. This is the same as the all church bonfire. You can meet at church for a ride or go to the Gerner's with your parents.

OK’d In Christ

Friday, November 20 – Sunday, November 22

Cost: $70.00 includes program, food, transportation, and a comfy sleep in the teen lounge.

OK’d In Christ is open to all 9^th – 12^th graders. This is the Oklahoma District Youth Gathering held right here in Tulsa. The gathering involves bible study, music, and just plain fun. This year the Panic Squad will be performing (those funny guys from the National Youth Gathering) as well as Nathan Tasker and Leon Jameson.

To help keep costs down we will be sleeping in the teen lounge rather than the comfy Doubletree Hotel and we will be asking parents to provide meals for our teens.

I need your registration form and money by Sunday, October 11^th. Don’t miss out on this exciting event. The program has a new format this year and promises to be better than ever.

Here’s a cool thing this year. If you have a 9^th – 12^th grade friend you would like to invite to the event it will only cost them $40 to register. This is a new offering from the organizers of the event and I think it is a great outreach. I’d love to see each of you bring a friend.

12:30 p.m.—leave for homeless shelter

Purple Glaze

Sunday, September 27^th

2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (I will be in the lounge after church until 2:30 for anyone who just wants to grab lunch and hang out.)

Cost: $1.00 paid to Tracy for the studio fee. PLUS the cost of your item to paint. Items range from $6.00 plus tax on up. You decide how much you want t spend.

The afternoon will be spent at the Purple Glaze studio painting ceramics. I think this will be a fun adventure for all of us. You will be able to pick up your items Wednesday night after they have been fired.
